It’s fun to be single, they said.
No one to hold you down, they said
But what if I want to be held down? What if I want cupid to hit me with one of his love coated arrows,or throw down a banana peel so I can slip and fall in love.
Does anyone ever choose to be single? It’s true some relationships don’t last, so you break up and enter into the world or unhappily content singles. But does anyone ever choose to remain single? Cause I didn’t. Living is hard enough, but living on your own is hellish, and you get to do it everyday.
Between being abandoned by your friends in relationships, to being pitied by everyone, to being set up on countless blind dates, that let’s be honest, you Lowkey don’t mind. You want to be set up, but they just keep setting you up with douchebags, or old men, or the guy from their street that only knows two words in the dictionary, and so you have to pretend like you don’t need love or relationships.
And guess what? It doesn’t get better after a few weeks. You don’t get used to being single, it doesn’t get easier, because people get into relationships daily, and they are all up in your face, not intentionally, but that’s how it seems, so you begin to hate love, you begin to wish everyone but you was single. You begin to hit up the guys you previously declined in attempt to make a counter offer, but they’re all married or in committed relationships.
Consolation is, all your love is being stored, and when you find that person, if you find that person, you’d have so much love to give them. Or not.
